Dartmoor Zoo in the news
27th March is Wear A Hat Day to raise awareness for Brain Tumour Research. Dartmoor Zoo Director is an Ambassador for the charity and the zoo has close links with Plymouth University who have recently established a Centre of Excellence for research. Members of staff joined in by having their photo taken wearing hats! And Benjamin had a close encounter with a beautiful bird of prey. You can read more about it in The Herald.
Baby meerkats born near Plymouth in time for Mothers Day - 13th March 2015
We are very proud to announce that Xena, our meerkat mum in residence has given birth to 4 babies (called kits). They are now 3 weeks old and super cute!

Head Keeper Mike Downman said: 'Mum Xena is a very experienced mother, and on a weekend when we're all celebrating great mums it's good to give her a bit of recognition."
It was lovely to celebrate over the Mother's Day weekend, and of course they are still here, getting more and more adventurous every day!

After The Herald asked for Christmas trees and unwanted perfumes, we had a fantastic response and received a large amount of donations that helped us with our enrichment of the animals! Thanks to everyone who donated to us!

Dartmoor Zoo becomes a charity after a crowd-funding campaign - 23rd December 2014
Dartmoor Zoo's crowdfund to help secure the future of the zoo closed after raising nearly £340,000 on 22nd December 2014. The enormous generosity of the donors helped the conversion to a charity to take place and secure the future of the zoo.

Morgan Sindall raise £1500 for Dartmoor Zoo - 12th May 2014
