Wolf Day Course at Dartmoor Zoo!

Understanding Wolves – 1 day course on September 22nd 2018) – £125.

Do you want the opportunity to get up close to our amazing pack of grey wolves? Learn all about Cheyenne, Tejas and Nata, with one of our wolf handling experts here at Dartmoor Zoo!

On this course, you will spend an amazing day learning about the remarkable world of the wolf. You will cover:

  • The social hierarchy of the pack and the roles of different pack members
  • The importance of diet and how it relates to a wolf’s social position
  • Methods of communication – behaviour, scent and sound

Although designed as standalone course, this one-day session forms an essential foundation for more advanced courses.

The day is open to anyone over the age of 16, and is ideal whether you work with wolves or simply have an interest in learning more about these fascinating animals. It includes encounters with our North American pack at the enclosure fence, and you will even get the opportunity to learn the different wolf howls and try howling with the wolves!

What are the dates and can you get hands in?

    • dartmoor zoo says:

The initial date has been set as Sunday 29th April. More dates will be set for later in the year. If you would like to book it please call us on 01752 837465. We do not handle our Grey Wolves. You will learn so much about them and even try howling with them. We look forward to hearing from you.

My 12 yr old granddaughter wants to work with animals.
Do you do any half day things ,as she has a birthday in April and this would be great for her.
    Many thanks

If she really likes wolves we can offer her an informative and spine tingling Wolf Encounter and Howl. There is also a Meet the Tigers Experience which she is old enough for – this is buy one get one for free so you would be able to accompany her on this one. The Junior Keeper for a Day runs from 10am to around 3pm and this is a great introduction to what our amazing keepers do on a daily basis. There are details on our web site or I am very happy to have a chat about the above. Best wishes, Kate
