Our Supporters

Air Improve

Air improve have been great supporters of the zoo, and have been providing free servicing of our air conditioning units and air source heat pumps for several years.

Aquamarine Media

Aquamarine Media team are enthusiastic supporters of Dartmoor Zoological Society. They have donated their time and expertise in order to create our charity funded Google Ads account and continue to monitor and improve our PCC performance monthly for free.

Babcock

Babcock International Group, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, allowed 6 of their Project Manager team to support the zoo by helping develop our maintenance system. Not only did the team develop excellent skills and experience it really benefitted our charity. The team went on to win the regional APM (Association for Project Management) challenge competition for the zoo project.

Babcock International Group donate rope, pipes and other items, which are cutoffs or waste items for them, but fantastic enrichment for the animals.

They also benefit from our corporate discount offers for their staff to visit and enjoy the zoo.

City College Plymouth

We work hard with many educational institutes, so it is always great when we can help them too. We had students practice their skills by rendering the outside wall of the new reptile and bug house, and re-plastered the Tegu enclosure all with donated materials from the college.

Cornwall Glass

2019 saw the refurbishment of an old enclosure which was only made possible by the donation and fitting of the glass panels from our friends at Cornwall Glass. Their generosity has led to the zoo housing two Red-handed Tamarins, a first for the charity.

Dartforest Tree Works

Dartforest Tree Works have provided free tree surgery works, surveys and advice.

DCW Devon Contract Waste and Polymers

Devon Contract Waste has proudly supported DZS since 2012. They freely provide a vital waste management service making us a ‘Zero to Landfill’ attraction.

In 2019 DCW polymers set up the Recycle and Raise scheme, an initiative introduced to turn plastic into funds for charity. After the incredible success in 2019 with over 15,000 tubs recycled and the profits from the sales going towards the animals the scheme will now be running year on year.

In 2020 the Recycle and Raise campaign now includes more plastics to includemilk bottle tops, takeaway containers and labelled P5.

The Managing Director of DCW also provides his time and expertise as a trustee for our charity.

Delt Shared Services

In 2018 Delt Shared Services made Dartmoor Zoological Society their charity of the year.

Delt supports local charities offering occasional no charge use of their manpower. On a paid leave basis, groups of Delt staff carry out work which supports the charity’s goals and acts a team-building exercise. All their staff are actively encouraged to take part allowing Delt to be recognised as a positive force in the community.

The team helped Dartmoor Zoological Society in a huge range of ways:

from servicing the computers, training staff on Office 365, performing a cyber review, providing access to their managed payroll service at no cost, through to helping maintain the zoo grounds. They also joined forces with Electrotek Solutions to donate computers, RAM upgrades, screens and other IT equipment.

Electrotek Solutions

Electrotek Solutions have very generously donated recycled computers, UPS and other IT equipment to the zoo for the past several years.

In 2018 they joined forces with Delt Shared Services to provide and install a package of IT equipment.

They are true friends of the zoo and enjoy a range of benefits when they are able to visit us.

EnergyBuzz

EnergyBuzz works closely with our team by using their expertise in the energy sector to help the charity continue its journey to become a ‘green’ energy site. During 2020 the team at EnergyBuzz helped the zoo move to renewable energy providers which has greatly reduced our carbon footprint.

Otter Brewery

Otter Brewery have been a supporter of Dartmoor Zoo for several years, providing us with exceptional service and prices for our weddings and events. They have  named one of our otter pups that was born October 2019 as ‘Tarka’, of course!

Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants

We were thrilled to hear that the offices at Thomas Westcott were running a competition for a staff member to win the chance to name one of the otter pups. This was in addition to sponsoring their new home. The chosen name was ‘Peanut’, who was the only female pup in the litter.

Shield Media Services

The Shield Media Team are regular visitors to the zoo, so they can capture those perfect shots and create amazing videos that show off our animals at their best. The team created our reopening video after the Covid-19 lockdown. They continue to support our social media pages and the education team to deliver our conservation message. Shield are now offering photography days for our guests where the proceeds of the tours go directly to the charity.

Studiose and Square Apple

Studiose and SquareApple have donated their time to support and manage our old website. They have now sponsored our new website and developed it to be more accessible and a nice user experience. Studiose have also provided key design work for the Zoo including our visitor map and when they need some time out of the office will lend a hand to the maintenance team around the site.

University of Plymouth

The University of Plymouth (UoP) became partners of DZS through our combined passion for conservation research. Plymouth offer many conservation courses and DZS wanted to provide a facility for that research to take place. UoP kindly donated the ‘Pod’ a designated space for university students at Plymouth and around the country to use when researching animal behavior, cognition and biodiversity.
