Home Educator Days
Dartmoor Zoo is a great place to get back to nature and learn about animals in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Our Home Educator Days are designed to welcome home educated children and their families, to come and explore the zoo for just £15 (one adult and one child), with different themes running each session. The days are designed to offer flexibility and freedom with talks and activities running across the site, or why not book onto one of our educator-led workshops to take an interactive dive into the topic?
Booking for dates opens around a month before, so keep an eye on the website, or ask to join our mailing list to be the first to know.

Zookeeper skills
Want to know what it takes to be a zookeeper? This day is dedicated to finding out all the different skills needed with a practical workshop, drop-in activities and talks around the site. Please note, you will not be working directly with any animals.

Christmas Enrichment and Zooluminate
T’is the season and we are looking for a few more elves to help fill the animals’ stockings. Come along to our special Christmas Home Educators day to learn about how we use enrichment at Christmas. Join us for an afternoon of festive workshops and activities, with the bonus of staying on site for our Zooluminate Christmas lights in the evening.
Please note: This event will have an additional cost to cover entrance to Zooluminate also.

Conservation and endangered animals
Come along to arm yourself with the knowledge of how you can help the conservation of endangered species from your home. Attend our endangered animals workshop, or visit our drop-in activities and talks to pick up the tips and tricks to make a real impact. The animals need your help, and you have the power!

Climate conundrum
Calling all wildlife warriors. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to come along to our Home Educator day to solve clues and decode puzzles to help us fight the climate crisis. Do you have what it takes to tackle our escape room-style activities?
